Fired director of McAlester area CASA files lawsuit – McAlester News-Capital, McAlester, OK

The local chapter of the Court Appointed Special Advocate program is under fire, as former executive director Eddie M. Kelly filed suit last week against the organization for wrongful termination.

Voices for Children hopes to expand advocacy – Carroll County Times: Local

Juneau CASA Program seeks volunteer child advocates – Juneau Empire

The Juneau Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program is recruiting volunteers to be the voice of hope for abused, neglected or abandoned children in our community. Every year in Juneau there are a number of children who are placed in foster care because abuse and neglect. Now, into these childrens’ lives come dozens of strangers: police, foster parents, therapists, social workers, judges and lawyers. Hopefully, one of these strangers is a CASA volunteer.

S.C. and Charles C. (together, the parents) appeal orders terminating their parental rights to their daughter, C.C., and son, Ch.C. (together, the children). They contend the court erred by finding the children adoptable and by not finding the beneficial parent/child relationship exception to termination of parental rights and adoption applied to prevent terminating their parental rights.
