On behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, of the United States Department of Justice, the Western District of Missouri is pleased to sponsor the 6th Annual Protect Our Children Conference. This years event is to be held in Kansas City, Missouri at the Hilton, Kansas City Airport. More than 500 local, state and federal law enforcement officials, victim service providers, prosecutors, educators, probation/parole/corrections administrators, medical professionals, mental health professionals, social work administrators and child protective services professionals will be in attendance.
The conference will feature national and international experts on issues related to child pornography, child enticement and child sexual abuse. Featured topics have included, forensic interviewing of children, pedophiles, offender characteristics, investigative and prosecution techniques, multi-disciplinary child advocacy teams and medical/mental indicators of child sexual abuse.
Protection for our children is a fundamental responsibility of every citizen. When a child is abused it is the responsibility of the child protective service community and the criminal justice community to respond in an appropriate and timely manner. The POC provides the training and promotes the teamwork needed to ensure such a response. The exposition portion of the POC will provide a forum for attendees to obtain the latest information on equipment and services available for use in their communities. Over 75% of our attendees hold management or administrative positions within their agencies!
