Connecticut, unlike other states, has no law against sex offenders close to schools- The Register Citizen News

According to a report issued by the state’s Office of Legislative Research three years ago, 21 states have adopted what are called residency requirements for convicted sex offenders, limiting where those offenders can live.

Connecticut is not one of those states.

Sex offender listed same address as foster home

Dane County officials recently moved to ensure the safety of a local child after state officials tipped off the county that a registered sex offender listed the same home address as the child’s foster home.

We Won’t Forget You, Megan – Neon Tommy

On July 29, 1994, 7-year-old Megan Kanka walked across the street to say hi to her neighbor. He was cleaning his boat. He offered the little girl a chance to meet his puppy. Megan was never seen alive again.

ConnecticutPlus.com News – Bill to expand sex offender notification law to school superintendents

Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced she has signed a bill that requires the state Department of Public Safety (DPS) to alert the superintendent of schools in a community where a convicted sex offender lives or is planning to live when the offender is released.

Court suggests lawmakers address Megan’s Law loophole for homeless – The York Daily Record

Six years ago, a panel of Pennsylvania Superior Court justices ruling on a York County case cautioned the state legislature of an apparent hole in Megan’s Law — a hole allowing homeless defendants to wander away from the requirement to register where they were living.
